Turmeric Latte (haldi doodh)




So much warmth and goodness in my mug. I love turmeric lattes, as a (some what) reformed coffee drinker I love a warm beverage and knowing I can have something as healing and delicious as turmeric in my cup is pretty exciting. I actually just finished reading Britt Brandon's book "Turmeric for Health: 100 Amazing and Unexpected Uses for Turmeric". As a nutritionist I knew a lot about turmerics amazing health benefits especially its anti-inflammatory properties (I try and consume turmeric as much as possible due to my arthritis) which can be healing for many areas of the body. But did you know turmeric can cleanse the liver, stimulate nutrient absorption, soothe a store throat, relieve a headache; it can heal bruises and eye infections and even treat acne. Honestly the list goes on. Turmeric is the definition of food as medicine.




Turmeric Latte


Ingredients


1 tbsp turmeric

2.5 cups almond milk

1 tsp coconut oil

1/4 tsp cardamom

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp cloves

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp organic maple syrup Directions

  • Add all ingredients to a sauce pan on medium heat and cook just until hot

  • Pour hot ingredients into a blender (be sure to vent when putting hot items into a blender) and blend frothy

  • pour into a mug and enjoy
